Crumpet: Take a week off, jump on a plane and come and visit me! It's hotter here (about 36 in the shade) but you'd enjoy it more! There's a communal pool, the sea is about 5 mins walk, a/c in the apartment and a big variety of bars with very cold beer within a couple of hundred yards. And you don't have to wear 'office' clothes.
i've been a member of the site for a month, but have been reading the posts for a lot longer, however this is my first post.
i was raised a j-dub by my mother (my father wasn't religious) with my sister and brother.
i was pretty much convinced by my dub friends, bible study conductor, and mother that i should get baptized when i was 15 and decided to go for it.
I hesitate to offer any advice on this because I'm not, and never have been, a JW and have no personal experience of WTBTS. So feel free to disregard my input.
BUT - you have explained that you can no longer accept WTBTS teachings and doctrines and authority (and quite rightly so, IMHO). How will you feel, how will your wife feel, and what will it do to your relationship with her if you have to go through a period of pretending and dishonesty in order to get yourself reinstated? I have no problem with you being dishonest towards WTBTS (don't they say themselves that you only need tell the truth to those entitled to know it?). But if your wife knows you an honest up-front person, becoming one who is prepared to live a lie may have an effect on her. In most marriages there comes a time for whatever reason when you have to absolutely depend on your spouse being honest with you. If she has seen you as someone prepared to be dishonest (however good and reasonable the motive) might that come back to bite you in the future? Only a thought.
And logically, if the JWs feel that you have expunged your sin (yuk!) by marrying your (now) wife, might it be the case that your family may - in time - come to accept you WITHOUT you being reinstated?
.
i didn't get a ticket in over 15 years, although i drive alot.. i always wear my seatbelts, never go more than 10 to 15 mph over the speed limit, and make decent stops, not dead stops, but decent ones..... here in quebec, if ya do a lousy stop, but that i mean if you don't completely stop, they call tha an american stop here.

misanthropic:
cops scare the crap out of me.
What, ALL of them??!!

yet with all of this stuff happening in the mideast....with al gore's "an inconvenient truth" and scientists backing him up...with nkorea....with "christian" rhetoric....with pornography taking over the minds of our men.....bird flu....debt up to the eyeballs....complacency....pacs.....enron...corruption...serial killers in phoenix.....shrinking dollar....economy being sold to overseas.....etc.
can anyone reassure me?
Where I live (Cyprus) is about 100 miles from the Lebanon and Israel. The mini-cruises to Lebanon are temporarily suspended. Day trips to Israel continue. If necessary, British bases will be used to evacuate foreigners from the hotspots.
In the overall history of this island and this region, current events are significant but by no means out of the cyclical run of things. They have happened before and will no doubt happen again.
it is so blazing hot here in houston!
it's almost 10:00 pm and the ac is still running, and i've got the thermostat set at 80. .
what kind of weather are you dealing with where you live this fine july?.
Mid to high 90s most of the time. No rain since May, none due till November!
eh heh?
i know this is either going to be one of those topics where people consider it a popularity contest or something....i'm just being an imp and seeing if anyone will be forward enough to tell about the person that they would like to date.. me, i'm married so that leaves me out!
but i have seen a lot of beefcakes on here!
Yeah, I know - but you know sometimes when you go to check your e-mails and there's a few and you start replying and then try and attach a picture and it goes to ratchet and then you you start fiddling ....
But all is not lost - I've got some cold ones in the fridge!
Thanks for your concern!

And you too, Lisa - what a pleasure to speak with you!
i greet everyone, .
there are some questions that i want to ask you all, and would really be very thankful if there comes out someone to respond it purely.
1- adultery [even looking lust for a woman (naturally for a woman to look lust for man)] is forbidden by lord, and jesus came to fulfil the law, and also in deuteronomy from 18th to 25th chapter, this sin and the punishment to it is being explained very briefly, now why many of those people who attribute themselves to the lord christ are completely in a adultery shaped life?
Nicolaou:
Hi! No, I'm not Cypriot, I'm a Brit ex-pat in Pafos. Been here about a year now.
I'd be delighted to meet up to discuss the Keo - Leon - Carlsberg question. Adequate sampling is necessary, of course!
every where you live, the local area has something about it that is either famous for something good or something bad.
as an example, you go to one town and it may have the historial site of a famous war battle.
you go to another an it might be the place something was invented, or the birthplace of someone famous.
Paphos is fairly ancient (3000 years or so, and the latest excavations are looking at buildings about 5000 years before that). Was a port harbour since pre-Roman times (now leisure and fishing).
Whole town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Mentioned in Acts 13 (Paul & Barnabas - the latter was a Cypriot).

Now a major tourist resort suffering from over-development (this started after the 1974 war/invasion). Has a substantial British (and other european) ex-pat population.
